RF micro needling, also known as radiofrequency micro needling or collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that combines the benefits of traditional microneedling with the added technology of radiofrequency (RF) energy. It involves using a device with tiny needles that create microchannels in the skin's surface, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.
The addition of radiofrequency energy in RF micro needling allows for deeper penetration and heating of the skin layers. The RF energy helps to further stimulate collagen production, tighten the skin, and improve overall skin texture and tone. During the procedure, a numbing cream may be applied to minimize any discomfort.
The handheld device with tiny sterile needles is then gently moved across the treatment area, creating controlled micro-injuries. At the same time, radiofrequency energy is delivered through the needles, heating the deeper layers of the skin without damaging the surface. This combination of micro-injury and heat triggers the body's natural healing response, leading to increased collagen and elastin production.
Over time and with multiple sessions, RF micro needling can result in improved skin texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, minimized acne scars, and a more youthful appearance. The number of sessions required can vary depending on individual needs and goals, but typically a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart is recommended for optimal results.

Results, downtime and recovery following treatment will vary. Side effects that may occur are redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising at the injection site, however, these are mild and temporary.
